Ashley Thompson
Hello, name is Ashley Thompson and I am a certified teacher. I graduated from Medicine Hat College/Mount Royal University in 2022. Born and raised in Medicine Hat, I have taken 10 years of piano lesson and achieved level 8 piano and level 10 harmony and history. In this photo, I used my knowledge of linkages to make a shark that opened and closed its mouth for in grade four science. Link to resume
Since 2016, I have coached for Medicine Hat Waves Swim and I absolutely love it! I swam for this club growing up so it has been a fulfilling and educational experience to work with the athletes and my fellow coaches. In 2019, along with some wonderful colleagues, we successfully started the Medicine Hat Manta Rays Swim Club. This is a process that I have been grateful to have been apart of and have learned valuable information from. The most valuable skill I have learned through my coaching experiences is how to give concise and meaningful feedback. I am a certified coach and have my Coaching 101 certification from Swimming Canada. This is our Waves team photo from our 2018-2019 season.
I am the youngest of 3 children and teaching runs in my family. My mom, Maria Thompson, has been a teacher in School District 76 for over 20 years and my grandpa, Gus Forget, was both a teacher and an administrator in the Catholic District. My older sister, Rachael Thompson, is also a teacher, and I consistently collaborate with her about all things teaching related . My family has played a vital role in my love for teaching and the journey to reach my goal of becoming an effective teacher.
